The Teloni.eu Observatory captures a sector in transformation: digitalization, demand for personalization, and new networking models are redefining tourism and the role of operators.
Over the past twenty years, traditional travel agencies in Italy have dropped from more than 11,000 to around 7,100 (-35%), impacted by disintermediation, economic crises, and the pandemic. At the same time, the figure of the travel consultant has grown—today one of the fastest-expanding professions—able to provide personalized services without a physical office.
Teloni has developed the Experience Manager: professionals who support clients at every stage, integrating travel, events, luxury villas, and destination weddings. According to the Observatory, events and lifestyle are the most dynamic segments: MICE, weddings, and authentic experiences are driving a growing market, with increasing demand for exclusive venues, tailor-made services, and tourism linked to wellness, food & wine, and culture.
AI is a powerful ally, but—as Teloni emphasizes—“experience is born only where roots have been set.” In the next five years, traditional agencies are expected to stabilize at around 5,000 units, while networked professionals will continue to expand, supported by digital platforms and specialized training.
The Teloni Group is continuing to seek Experience Managers to expand a team that is charting a new course in tourism.
